Motorcycle Routes in Middle and Eastern Tennessee

Many of our customers have motorcycles and love to ride.  Though Steve and I don't have a motorcycle, we love hearing your stories of your adventures and this blog is sharing those with others.  We have gathered your favorite routes as well as some nearby favorites from the internet through the Middle and Eastern Tennessee Area.  Included when possible are the links to the sites so that you can check them out for yourself.  Please stop into our retail shop in Smyrna, TN if you are traveling through the area!  We offer on site patch sewing during store hours.  We also have a huge selection of patches available for purchase, as well as riding gear and more!

A common favorite of our customers is US 421 "The Snake- 33 miles, 489 curves, 3 mountains, and 1 valley".  It runs between Mountain City, TN and Bristol, TN.  There are cabins, condos, and homes available for rent along the route if you plan to take in any sights while you are there.

Another recommendation is "The Devil's Triangle" located in Oliver Springs, TN.  It includes TN Hwy 62 and 116.  The Morgan County Chamber of Commerce Site lists it as " a difficult ride and is better suited for veteran and experienced riders, not the beginner."  Fun facts listed on their site include that the lowest elevation is 785 feet above sea level, highest is 2195 feet!  It is a 45 mile loop through parts of Frozen Head State Park and past the historic Brushy Mountain Penitentiary.

Of course, nearby is the Tail of the Dragon in Deal's Gap, NC, US 129.  It is bordered by the Cherokee National Forest and the Great Smokey Mountains.  It includes 318 curves in 11 miles.

The Cherohala Skyway runs between Tellico Plains, TN and Robbinsville, NC.  It was completed in the Fall of 1996 and runs through back country forests in TN and mountains in NC.  It crosses through the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests.  There are no facilities other than a few restrooms along the 41 mile trip.

Highway 85 north of Cookeville was also recommended, an example being from the Cumberland River and heading east through Livingston, Alpine, and around through Allred, TN, down to Crawford, TN.

Also try Routes between Chattanooga and Spring Hill, TN, going through Beersheba Springs, Altamont, Gruetli Laager, Palmer, Whitwell.  These routes include TN 28 to TN 108.

TN State Route 145 between Woodbury and Auburntown, TN. It is 9.72 miles in length and offers some beautiful scenery.

Some other recommendations include rides from Smyrna to Lebanon, TN  with stops recommended at City Limits Café, Short Mountain Distillery, around the mountain and through Woodbury, TN.  Another is on HWY 129 from Lynnville to Lynchburg, TN with stops at Soda Pop Junction.

US Highway 41 also runs through Tennessee from the Southeast to the northern part of Middle Tennessee and includes many small towns along the way, including our very own, Smyrna, TN.

Bobarosa Saloon in the Cherokee National Forest, 2299 US-25, Del Rio, TN 37727.  One customer said it offers wonderful riding trails in the area and is not far from Knoxville, TN. They have rooms, cottages, camper rentals, RV and tent sites.

You could take the Natchez Trace down to the Rattlesnake Saloon, 1292 Mount Mills Road, Tuscumbia, AL 35674.  The Natchez Trace offers no stoplights or stopsigns, beautiful scenery, and access to hiking trails and attractions along the way.  Speed limit is 50mph.  The road runs through Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi.

We will also have an ad on the map for WildRides.info, coming soon.  We will have some available in the shop soon!

Feel free to contact us with your recommendations.  They will be added to this blog to share with others.  Whatever the path you choose, we wish you safe journeys.  Please stop by and add a pin of your hometown to our map!  We have visitors from all over the globe as well as our own valued local customers.   We look forward to seeing you soon!
