Veterans Day Throughout the Years

In the United States, Veterans Day is observed on November 11 annually.  It originally signified the signing of the Armistice (or temporary cessation of hostilities), which ended World War I (known at the time as The Great War) between the Allied Nations and Germany.  The signing of the Armistice took place at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, November 11, 1918.    An act was approved on May 13, 1938 that made November 11 each year a national holiday known as Armistice Day.  On June 1, 1954, Congress approved a change to the word Veterans...
